After spending a week in a warehouse for work, I decided to spend the weekend out side and enjoy the last of summer. Last Saturday I took a small trip in to town to the domain to look at the winter gardens. I'm no horticulturist but there's something about flowers that just brighten my day.

First off I went in to the winter gardens were I wanted to see the corpse flower. It officially bloomed in spring and it only blooms for one day but I was still interested in seeing the actual plant, unfortunately it had already died. Apparently its call corpse flower because its stench smells like rotten meat. You can read all about the blooming corps flower here.

Next I went for a walk around the domain to the duck ponds and then to the fields of flowers. It was really nice to just get outside and be around nature. I know when I go to England the nature of New Zealand is going to be the first thing I'm going to miss. I love being out side.

The next day, Sunday I decided to take a trip down to Hamilton with my boyfriend and his mum to go see his Nana. We ended up going to the Hamilton gardens and these gardens are spectacular. They have an area inside the gardens where they are all themed. I want to go back next month as they are opening up the mad hatter section and I think its going to be amazing.

We didn't walk right around the gardens as they are huge (its a bit of a hike around them) and the boyfriends Nana was in wheel chair. I would love to go back and have another look. I highly recommend going to see them if you are ever passing or visiting Hamilton.
