Since getting my new camera, I want to use it as much as possible; learn the ins and out of it so I can start to get some professional looking photos. Last weekend I went for a trip to the Auckland botanical gardens for a sunny Sunday stroll and to look at the beautiful landscapes.

One of my favourite areas was the edible section. To be able to pick leaves of the trees or in the garden patches and smell and taste them was a wonderful experience. Unfortunately we are going in to winter here in New Zealand so there wasn't much colour in my photography as most of the flowers were wilting or the roses had been de-headed cause they were dieing. I want to go back in spring apparently it is amazing.

I walked around the gardens for about two and a half hours but they have paths going on for miles you could easily spend a whole day there, I hope to do that one day it was lovely seeing people playing Frisbee on the lawn or sitting down with a packed lunch having a picnic it was just lovely.

There was this old man sitting on a bench just driving his little remote control boat (The Lady Margaret) in one of the many ponds. It was such a cute boat and shot I could not snap this picture. I sat there for about thirty minutes while her drove around and around me so I could get the perfect picture, he was so nice.

After walking around most of the day it was getting quite late I snapped this picture of the bulls skull head, (its true what they are about best lighting is just before sunset and after sunrise) I love this photo so much. This whole section was built out for kids activities they had a whole section on rainforests, cacti, and Venus fly traps where kids could stand near the water and try and catch frogs.

The Botanical gardens are definitely a family orientated area, During school holidays they have quizzes and puzzles put all over the gardens where you had to find little pictures or plants. there is a cafe where the parents can go grab a coffee or a slice of cake. But what even better that the whole of the botanical gardens are free. If your coming in to Auckland for a holiday this is a good place to go for a stroll in the sun and check out all of New Zealand natural forestry and fauna.
