There are two big decisions everybody needs to make before going abroad. The first, obviously, is where to go. The second is who you're going to go with. The one thing that has bugged during my plans to travel to Europe is finding a travel buddy, how hard can it be? I want someone to go with because imagine how fun it will be getting lost together, it will be memories between you and your travel buddy will have forever. But also think how lonely and stressful would it be getting lost or missing your flight. Doing it buy myself kind of scares me. And finding someone to travel with would give my parents a some peace to their mind.

I guess everybody is busy these days or it isn't on their agenda to move to the other side of the world. The one thing I really despise in finding a travel friend is getting let down. The amount of times I have pushed back my travel plans to accommodate for someone else has been too many.

(Sorry for the long story but I just had to let all this frustration out somewhere.)

Let's start off my initial plans, two years ago I was meant to go to America after studding. I was going with 5 people, but once we graduated a lot of them didn't have the money and our plans were non-existent. One friend was still keen to go, and then he found out that going overseas for more than six months we would have to pay interest on you student loans. So it was delayed for another year. The following year I decided to go to Europe instead. Europe felt right; I was going to go buy myself. On November 2013 I would pack my bags go to London. Wrong once more, my friend came back to me and said he would come with me, when I started to book tickets he bailed once yet again; he wanted to go to Dubai instead with his other friend. Fast forward to March 2014 my friend came back to me and said his friend has a girlfriend and is now staying in NZ. And now he has just told me that he can't afford to go till March 2015.

Annoying right?

Some of you might ask, why you don’t ask other friends.
Well all of my other friends are in really good jobs and don't want to leave them.
I do have someone else that I have asked and she said she would love to come and is saving now but to be honest she isn't the most reliable person to stick to her word.

I have come to the conclusions that finding a travel buddy is the hardest thing. That’s why I think it’s a great idea to go through an agency that deals with overseas gap years; I have been told that has been the best place to find like minded travellers. I let you know if I find one.

I've realised that no one will just give up their time and drop everything to travel with you; it’s a hard and long process to find someone. I find the more time I extend on my plans I will never just go and live my dream. So from this day forward I am going to leave at the end of Jan 2015 with or without a travel buddy.
