Two weeks ago I took a one week holiday to South Otago to visit my extended family before I leave for London, these are just a few of the photos I took of the country side. If you haven't been to the South Island and you live in NZ where have you been hiding? It is home to the most beautiful landscapes and I highly recommend to do it in your life time. My mother and I hired a car from Dunedin airport and drove right down through The Catlins and stopped at all the touristy spots on the way to Invercargill.
Nugget point can get quite windy, but take some binoculars to spot the seals on the rocks. Purakanui Falls are the most beautiful to take photos of and Maclean falls are the most stunning to see in person. Stop off at The Lost Gypsy in Papatowai where he creates cute trinkets and gadgets out of things people have thrown out. Then arrive at the most southern part of the South Island, Curio Bay, where you can visit the Petrified forest and maybe see some penguins or dolphins.
Arriving at our destination we visited bluff and Anderson park garden where you can have a picnic or feed the ducks. Then spent a day on my uncles farm tailing lambs and taking care of a calf that its mother abandoned. Then driving to dunedin again passing through Lake Waihola where they have a fence covered in shoes.
I throughly enjoyed my break from blogging down south but I'm glad to be back at home sharing my holiday with you.
