If your anything like me and have a huge sweet tooth, this sweet treat is something you could have daily. Lately I have become completely addicted to chocolate treats especially peanut butter cups and as we all know peanut butter cups are not healthy at all; they are loaded with processed sugars.
Banana Nut Chocolates is the complete opposite it is filled with vitamins and minerals, fiber, healthy fats and natural sugars. There is hardly anything bad in it especially if you use organic chocolate or make you own.
These are definitely a healthy treat you can sink you teeth in to for a late night supper or to cure that ugly three o'clock afternoon craving and they are super easy to make.
Ingredients
Serving 12 Calories per serve 80cal Total fat 5g Total sugars 4.6
- 2 Large ripe banana's
- 4 Tbsp of peanut butter (or you can use any nut butter)
- 200g of 75% or more chocolate (I like the 85% Lindt chocolate, the more percentage of cocoa the less sugar)
Directions
STEP 1
Cut your bananas in 1cm thick slices, lay them out on a tray and pop in the freezer for at least 4hours preferably over night for best results
STEP 2
Take them out of the freezer, using a T spoon; spoon the nut butter on to half of the bananas.
Then place the other half of the banana's on top to make little banana sandwiches, and place back in the freezer for another 2 hours.
STEP THREE
While the banana's a freezing, melt the chocolate using the double boiler method.
Double boiler method
Create a double boiler by boiling a small pot 1/3 fill and lowering to a simmer. Use a heat-proof bowl slightly larger than the pot. You can allow this to sit on top of the pot. If the water is touching the bottom of the bowl, pour a little bit out.
Add chocolate to your bowl and stir constantly until the chocolate is melted.
STEP FOUR
Take the Banana's out of the freezer and coat them in chocolate, I would recommend taking them out one at a time as they do start to defrost quickly. Place back in the freezer until the chocolate is hard. Then they are ready to eat.
For storage, keep them in a air tight container in the freezer, they should last for up to 2 weeks.
Let them slightly defrost a little bit when freshly taken out of the freezer other wise you could end up with sore teeth.
