Nottingham the land of Robin Hood, Wollaton hall (Batman's house), Lace Market area (once the centre of the world’s lace industry), the city of caves and the place I call my second home. This place is so dear to my heart, it was once my home away from home and fell in love with it as soon a I stepped off that train.

As a city I find Nottingham quite small, it's very accessible to see in one day. Located in the Midlands, its great transport links and convenient location make it easy to get to from most corners of the country. However, Nottingham’s appeal doesn’t just lie in its handy location and ease of access.

There is so much to do in Nottingham, there is something to do for all of the family. My first stop of the day would to go see the city caves. Book the day before so you arrive at the first session. Nottingham is built on hundreds of man built sand stone caves dated back to 1270-1300. Take the tour to investigate the social history of the caves and learn more about the events that once happened inside these fascinating underground dwelling.

Old market square would be my next stop, It’s at the heart of the city center, and all the shopping we can imagine radiates from it. There are plenty of high street shops and modern arcades, but we focus our time on the quiet alleys.

Not far from the Old Market Square lies Nottingham Castle. Sitting atop a network of secret sandstone caves, it’s everything I expected from the land of Robin Hood. As you walk through the Hulk like gate you are welcomed buy stunning gardens and many statues of Robin hood. Inside the Castle it is now used as a museum of fine art.

Just from the entrance, and down a road called Maid Marian Way (yay!) lies a statue of Robin Hood himself. This is a great place to stop and grab a few photos for the gram.

Not far from there built in to 'Castle Rock' sits the Ye Olde Trip to Jerusalem pub, which is said to be the oldest pub in England. It’s everything a “ye olde” pub should be, from the rambling architecture to the moss-covered roof tiles. Stop here to have a pint and some lunch there are so many nooks and caves in this pub to hide away in.

After lunch head back up towards Old Market Square, This area is full of restaurant and cafes try to scope out somewhere nice for dinner while your on your way to have a bit of fun. Depending on what your style is you could either head to The National video game Arcade and play some old vintage games like Mario Kart or head to The Justice Museum and get a interactive tour or if you have a lots of time on your hand catch the bus to Wollaton Hall and dear park - This is where Batman, Dark Night Rises was filmed.

There are so many other area's to explore there are many little lanes with quirky shops and cafes to eat cakes in on of my favourite place to go to after dinner is The House of Coco Tang they make amazing cocktails and they are half price during happy hour!

The city has an abundance of beautiful architectural features, charming lanes, and pretty squares we can’t get enough of.

So much so that you could spend more than a day here taking it all in.
